Firefall, The Early Years (1974-1981) goes international today with our first shipment of purchases to the United Kingdom. We’re also starting to see website traffic from around the world with visitors from Ireland, Norway, Germany, Japan, Korea, Spain, France and many more locations. We hope that this trend continues as we work to build an international community of Firefall fans.
I learned a long time ago that rock stars don’t see things the same way we civilians do. For example, some cool collectible or memorabilia might get tossed in the trash without realizing it’s worth to a true fan. Case in point…….I was recently helping Dave Muse move some stuff he had stored away when we came across a box of old paperwork. His first instinct was to toss it but I insisted on going through it first. To my surprise, I found a letter from the band’s lawyer to Mick Fleetwood (who was acting as the band’s manager at the time), a letter congratulating Dave on his first gold record and a package that contained a complete string arrangement for “Wrong Side of Town” from the Elan album. Don’t panic, I didn’t let him toss it and have it safely in my office. I promise to keep my eye out for other great stuff.
We’ve finished processing the first batch of paperback orders and they’re on the way via 1st Class USPS mail. Hopefully they’ll reach everyone in a few days. If you are one of the folks who ordered a copy, we’d love to hear your feedback on the book. Please consider posting a comment on this webpage, on our Facebook page or Instagram. You can also post comments to the Amazon.com page.
Check out the newly found recording we just posted to the Streaming Audio page. It’s from a Firefall show that was simulcast on FM radio. We believe this was during a show in Chicago, but are not entirely sure of the venue. And while the source of this recording has the date as July 4, 1978, we’re pretty sure this is incorrect given the set list. It’s more likely 1976.
Today we received a big box from Amazon containing the first printing of our new paperback Firefall, The Early Years (1974-1981). We’ll be working over the weekend to process all of the pre-order purchases so they can ship out early next week. If you haven’t yet picked up a copy, order now and we’ll ship it out next week as well.
Please consider sharing with us when you receive your order. Post a selfie with your new book on Facebook or Instagram and be sure to tag us so we’ll see it. Send us an email to let us know what you think. If you are feeling particularly generous, consider posting a customer review on Amazon.
We appreciate all your support and look forward to hearing from each and every one of you.
We’ve been hard at work adding to the Tour Archive in an attempt to recreate as many dates as possible. We recently came across a great online reference that allows us to search historical newspapers and it’s been a wealth of information. Be sure to have a look around at all the new stuff.
We’d like to give a huge shout out to all the Firefall fans around the globe who jumped on the bandwagon to make our pre-order campaign for Firefall, The Early Years (1974-1981) a smashing success. We had orders from around the United States and as far away as Germany. We hope that this support and interest continues as we would like to see this website become the hub of a worldwide community of Firefall fans.
Thanks again for all of your support.
We’ve recently added live audio files from two early Firefall shows for your enjoyment. These recordings come from May 1976 shows at The Agora Ballroom in Cleveland, Ohio and Paul’s Mall in Boston, Ma. Included are tunes the band performed prior to the release of the first album. Some titles include “Sunny Day”, “Two Lovely Women”, “Four Days of Rain” and more.
This is the first news update for the newly launched Firefall Archive. Take a look around and you’ll find lots of cool stuff from Firefall’s early years. This website is a companion to the printed book, Firefall, The Early Years (1974-1981) which contains lots of static, non-changing information not included here. We will continue to correct, update and add to the information on this website as new details come along. Check back often for cool, new stuff.
