The Early Years (1974-1981)

The Other End

1st Set

The audio on the first song “It Doesn’t Matter” starts late in the song.

New York City, NY
June 2, 3, 4, 1976

While most people recognize the famous music venue The Bitter End, many folks don’t realize that it was renamed The Other End for a few years in the mid-1970’s. It was during this period that Rick, Jock and Mark performed there as Chris Hillman’s backup band. After Chris fell ill, the guys convinced the club to allow them to finish the run with their own band, Firefall. They flew Larry Burnett and Michael Clarke in for the shows and the rest is history.

The origin of these recordings is somewhat murky. They have been attributed to David Muse, but he says that he wasn’t at the show.

2nd Set

According to text accompanying these files, the audio quality on “Livin’ Ain’t Livin”” starts to fade due to dying recorder batteries.

The audio of “Cinderella” stops due to continuing battery problems. The rest of the 2nd set was not recorded.
